Screen purchase withholding exposure

Run an EWT exposure report, answer classification questions, and distinguish confirmed amounts from unresolved assumptions.

In this guide

The Exposure → EWT workflow reads a company's purchase records from Juan and screens for possible expanded-withholding-tax gaps. It is a review report, not a write to the books or a filed assessment.

Prepare the company facts

Review the company's withholding profile and the questions offered by the report. Unknown facts must stay unknown until supported. In particular, amounts conditional on Top Withholding Agent status should not be read as established exposure when that status has not been confirmed.

An assigned member or admin with access can operate the active company's report. Configuration changes remain subject to the admin controls shown.

Run and read the report

  1. Open Exposure → EWT.
  2. Choose the quarter or year being reviewed.
  3. Choose Run exposure and wait for the run to finish.
  4. Open the completed report and inspect its totals, gaps, and source lines.
  5. Answer the offered review questions where classifications or relevant facts are unresolved.

Read the categories beside amounts. A certain amount, an amount conditional on TWA status, and a data gap describe different levels of evidence. A zero in one category does not settle an unresolved question elsewhere.

How classification works

People's recorded answers take priority. The classifier then uses its supported model questions, recorded codes, and supplier history in the implemented order. Anything it cannot decide is held for review rather than silently guessed.

When answering, compare the source and the actual nature of the purchase. A supplier's name alone does not establish every transaction's treatment. A review answer should describe the supported transaction type, not the outcome that makes the exposure smaller.

What a run changes

The workflow stores the report and its review state in Mendiola. It reads Juan and never edits bills, assigns withholding to existing transactions, files a return, or pays tax.

The report's cited rules and stated assumptions explain its calculations. Check scope, dates, missing records, and conditional amounts with the accountant responsible for the company before acting on the totals. Purchase-workbook withholding is a separate intake workflow; changing an exposure answer is not a correction to a workbook bill.
