Sign off or reopen a closing period

Read sign-off warnings, record an admin's decision, and reopen a period with a reason when work must be revisited.

In this guide

An admin with access signs off or reopens an ended, monitored period. These are recorded review acts. They do not post closing entries or lock accounts in Juan.

Sign off

  1. Open the company period or its review page.
  2. Check the latest review, answers, and queries.
  3. Choose Sign off when offered.
  4. Read every warning, add the intended note, and confirm the decision.

A review still running prevents sign-off. Other review concerns are warnings for the admin's judgement, rather than automatic refusals.

Understand the warnings

The dialog can warn, in this order, that:

  1. Nobody requested a review.
  2. You requested the review yourself.
  3. No review finished since the period was last reopened.
  4. The newest review failed.
  5. Queries remain open.
  6. An item is answered No.
  7. A critical applicable item has neither passed nor been answered.

The sign-off keeps the warnings the signer was shown. Signing off despite a warning does not turn that warning into a passed check or prove that an unresolved matter was corrected.

If the page changed

Another person can answer a query or start a review while your dialog is open. If the recorded state or warnings changed, Mendiola refuses the stale submission, closes the dialog, and refreshes the page. Read the current results and reopen the action.

Reopen with a reason

An admin can reopen a signed-off period while the company remains monitored. Give the required reason and confirm. The period becomes Open again, with its history retained. Staff request review again when the books are ready.

Sign-off versus locking

Locking is a separate real-books action with its own company switch. A sign-off does not create a lock. A lock does not require a signed-off period; its dialog describes the monitoring concerns without enforcing sign-off as a gate. See locking the books.
