Run a closing review and work through queries
Compare the books, review checklist results, answer findings, and manage preparer and client queries.
In this guide
A closing review reads the company's books in Juan and stores a review of an ended period. It does not change the books. A reviewer is an admin, or an assigned member when the company allows staff reviews.
Start the review
- Open the company's Closing page and choose an ended period that is not signed off.
- Choose Start review.
- Check the comparative period and date ranges.
- Confirm the materiality and whose default it uses; add a note if needed.
- Start and wait for the review to finish.
Comparatives depend on cadence and financial year. A monthly company's quarter-end or year-end month can offer wider comparisons. Starting a review moves the period to In review.
Read findings and statements
The review page shows its coverage, key findings, checklist tabs, statement lines, and query register. Figures and movement flags are computed by code, using the displayed materiality. The movement rule considers both percentage and pesos, with a very large peso movement flagged regardless of its percentage.
An unknown or not-determined check is not a pass. Some checks still need a reviewer because they are not automated. The review currently does not turn every checklist item into a code check.
Jev assesses explanations for certain movements; it runs in shadow for clearing those lines. An explained movement can still require a reviewer to confirm the relevant checklist item. Generated comments are held when they cannot be supported. Read any missing-service or incomplete-read notice.
Answer a checklist item
A reviewer uses the item's answer control. A Yes over a finding needs a note. The answer records the finding it addressed; if later evidence changes, the old answer does not silently settle the new finding.
Compare the source postings and figures before answering. A model's explanation does not establish a missing document or the correctness of a tax treatment.
Work through queries
People who can operate the company can answer uncleared queries. Reviewers can add, edit, clear, reopen, or delete them through the offered controls. Use the client-query download to send the client the intended list through your firm's usual process; downloading does not send it for you.
Queries belong to the period and survive reruns. A previously settled query can be raised again when the figures underlying it change; a person's edited wording is preserved. Inspect the newest review rather than relying only on a prior response.
A run fails or becomes stale
Read the error and coverage notice. A failed newest run is not a successful fresh review merely because older results remain visible. Reload after another person's action and use the current page before answering or signing off.
